When God created a Mother, He created one with a purpose and a heart.

A Mother holds her baby and sees all of his or her days in a flash.  She sees the first steps, the first day of school, the first bicycle ride, the first award.  The flashes skip to graduations, marriage, then life as their own.  All at once the Mother holding her baby recognizes the value in that moment.  She understands that just like that this baby she holds will not be a baby for long.

The role of a Mother is the greatest a woman can know.  She kisses the tears from a scraped knee and suddenly the tears are hers as she leaves her once baby at college to pursue his dreams. She hugs her little boy goodbye for his first day of school only to hug his new bride and excitedly welcome her to the family.

The heart of a Mother is huge for it has the greatest love to extend to all of her babies - no matter how many that may be.  A Mother’s heart is filled with love for each child.  She knows their needs, their likes, their friends.  A Mother’s heart knows no bounds. She loves each child the same and wants the best that God has for each one.  A Mother’s heart is limitless for whether the child is small or an adult - she is there to celebrate them, enjoy them, most of all thank God for them.

Mother’s Day isn’t just this day for Moms like me.  Mother’s Day is every day for God granted us with gifts, He answered prayers, He performed miracles and made us Mothers.  When we look at our children - whether in person or in pictures - we take nothing for granted and discern the honor it is each and every day …to be a Mother.  With gratitude, every day is Mother’s Day and special for us!

Today, we specifically acknowledge the Mothers in our lives.  How blessed we are to have

them ….to be them.

There are many Mothers that I have benefited from. I am beyond grateful for my own mom who has been with Jesus for a year now. My Nannie and my Aunt Mar-Mar poured into me and molded my life in ways I cannot express. Many of the Moms of my childhood friends -

Karen, Judy, Lynda, Shirley, Sherry, Mary Pat, Darla, Nancy, Julie, Barbara, Charlotte, Norma, Tommie, Sandra, Beverly, Betty Jo, Mary, Penny, Brenda, and so many more - influenced my life and contributed to who I am today. The co-workers who were wonderful Mothers in my life through the years - Pat, Eula, Linda, Pat A., Nelda, Ann, Pat V., Zelda, Sammye, Linda B., Renee', Ginger, Freida, Jan, Nell, Mary, Doris P., Susan B., and others that invested in me - I treasure with my whole heart. I am truly thankful for the moms of my dear friends that do llife with me today and have been there for years now through thick and thin.

How grateful I am for my husband's mom who raised such an amazing son that is the love of my life and my best friend. I could not be more thankful for the mother of my beautiful daughter-in-love. What a treasure she is to my son and to our family.

Thank you to all Mothers - with us or passed on to Heaven.  We are better for having you or having had you in our lives.  You are a treasure to us.

May God see our hearts of gratitude for each Mother. May He use us as Mothers in the lives of others. May we cherish Mothers who God placed throughout our lives to navigate and invest in us. May we take the time to give God praise and glory for the influences of the Mothers in our lives.

Happy Mother’s Day!   You are loved and we thank you for everything!
