Special Delivery

Jeremiah 1:5 NLT

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

I don’t know what today is for you- but for our family it happens to be a day of celebration. Today is the day, thirty years ago, that God completed our family with our youngest son.  

What a gift.  What a blessing.  What an answer to prayer.  Our oldest son was a miracle and answer to prayer and when we found out we were expecting again- we knew God had truly blessed us.  

We decided to find out if we were having a boy or a girl so we could all get acquainted while we waited for his or her arrival. We learned on June 6, 1996, that we were having another boy.  How excited we were to be blessed with our precious son and, of course, we began saying his name!  

On October 21, 1996, our youngest son was a special delivery from God.  He came into the world and changed our lives for the better.  He has brought joy and happiness as well as being an incredible treasure every day.   From the moment he came into our lives, he and our oldest son have been the best of friends.  When his big brother would come into the room, our youngest son would raise that newborn head toward the direction of his voice.  I watched our oldest become a protective big brother.  I can say that this has endured through the years and is very much the truth today.  Additionally, I observed with my younger son how it became- and still is- reciprocated.  My sons, their walk with God, and their incredible connection are my heart. 

God chose me to be a Mom of Boys …now a Mom of Men …I couldn’t have asked for more.  A double portion of Special Deliveries- it doesn’t get any better.  I’ve had the time of my life and continue to do so. 

I can honestly say, many prayers for our family went up years prior to seeing it happen.  In fact, we experienced the loss of our first baby in a miscarriage.  Some things affect you and your heart. BUT GOD!  I can testify that when you run to Him with all of you- your victories, your achievements, your heartaches, your devastations- He will meet you- and it will be beyond what you had imagined!

Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, 

So are My ways higher than your ways,

And My thoughts than your thoughts.

My prayer is that you find a Special Delivery in your walk with God every day.  For you, dear Reader, are a Special Delivery to Him- every time you breathe His Name, speak His Word, or share your encounter with Him to another human.  Our amazing God created you for fellowship.  He simply delights and rejoices over you. 

Zephaniah 3:17 NIV

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.

Precious friend, please understand that each moment of your life, Jesus is with you- and, oh, He loves you so!
